The Là Di
Motte wine company began in the 1970s in Motta di Livenza, in the
vine-covered lands on the border between the regions of the Veneto and
Friuli.
The 100-plus hectares of "Là Di Motte" vineyards have benefited from an
extensive programme of environmental upgrading. This has involved the
removal of old vineyards and the planting of new specialised clones in
more modern vineyard layouts, as well as adopting advanced viticultural
practices and innovative technology through the entire winemaking
process.
The old farming complex
was completely restored, and a
15,000-quintal production facility built, along with a new barrel cellar
capable of holding up to 400 barriques. A modern event and conference
centre was added as well.

The
reorganised company team is now assisted by numerous professional
winemakers and external consultants, for example, Flavio Zuliani . A
group of viticultural professionals continuously directs all vineyard
workers, for optimal utilisation of environmental resources.
High-density plantings of 3,500-4,200 vines/hectare and selective
vineyard production, limited to 50-100 quintals/hectare, ensure the high
quality of wines produced.
The 2001 harvest was the first to see the results of the entire estate
modernisation programme. The specialised, high-quality production has
already won numerous awards and testimonials
at the industry's main foreign
and Italian trade shows.
The company's careful attention to quality in every phase of production
and promotion, from clonal selection to packaging, won Là Di Motta the
Special Award for Packaging at Vinitaly 2002.
